What To Expect

A chiropractor can correct a misalignment and allow the bone to return to its proper position. This procedure is called an adjustment which allows the body to heal itself naturally. A chiropractic adjustment is a quick thrust applied to a vertebra for the purpose of correcting it's position, movement or both. Most patients experience relief immediately after an adjustment. Proper alignment often results in relief from pain, increasing range of motion, reducing nerve irritability and improved function.

A Patient's Happy Ending

One of the greatest joys of being a chiropractor is treating our patients and seeing the improvement in their overall quality of life. Over the past 30 years of practice we have witnessed hundreds of miracles of patients lives being totally transformed as the result of chiropractic care and the removal of nerve interference. One such miracle happened about six months after I opened my practice as a Jonesboro Chiropractor.

I was asked by a grandparent if there was anything I could do for their 11-month-old granddaughter who had been experiencing a vast amount of health problems that no one seemed to be able to help. I agreed to meet with the parents and the child for a consultation at which time it was related to me that the little girl had been perfect for the first 4 1/2 months of her life and then she developed a fever and congestion and was placed on antibiotics. From that point on the child was constantly ill, had not slept one night, and was consuming over $400 a month in medication.

As I discussed her condition with her parents it was quite obvious that they both were exhausted physically, emotionally, and also financially as the result of their child’s illness. After performing a detailed physical examination on the child, it was apparent that the child’s illness began about the same time that she started teething. Being good parents they did what anyone would do, immediately took their child to the pediatrician who started her on her first round of antibiotics, after which continued to be followed up by more and more antibiotics and other medications and her condition continued to only get worse.

I performed a chiropractic adjustment on the little girl and she immediately fell into a deep sleep which caused great concern for her parents. I assured them that she was okay just physically exhausted from not having the ability to rest like a normal child should. They were instructed to go home and return the following day for a follow-up visit.

The next morning the mother brought the child back into the office and when I entered the exam room I noticed that the mother was crying. When I ask if she was okay she said yes, the baby slept all night and that morning she saw something that she had never been able to see before. When she went into the little girls room the she was standing in her bed and playing. The little girl continued to thrive and grow into a happy healthy young lady who is today married with children her own. To be able to watch two wonderful parents go from being in a state of mental, physical, and financial distress to happy and loving parents has been one of the greatest experiences that I have witnessed during my career.

Dr. Barnett treats patients of all ages. A spinal adjustment performed on infant by a trained and skilled chiropractor is not painful or traumatic and in most cases quite relaxing for the child.
